My Story…
Welcome to Can Play Piano Studio in the Mount Uniacke area! Born and raised in Halifax, music (singing, playing flute, ukulele and piano) has been a part of my life since an early age.
After completing my training as licensed Simply Music teacher in the Spring of 2015, I began by teaching one friend who is still my student today. As of the end of 2018, I teach over 25 students whose ages range from 6 to 76. I enjoy the dedication and spontaneous creativity of children, and the maturity and joy that adults have in discovering it is never too late to learn! Absolutely all of them are discovering that they are deeply and profoundly musical. Simply Music has made it possible for my students to play great sounding music pieces from their very early lessons, without being overwhelmed by tedious theory. It is a multi-sensory, intuitive approach which focuses on the sheer joy of playing, before and after they learn to read notes. My students' progress and immense enjoyment of the process is one of the reasons I love being a Simply Music Piano teacher.
I especially love teaching church music, but also enjoy teaching classical, contemporary, and blues and folk music. We have had the joy of letting students perform at several recitals; including two at a local nursing home to bless the residents, and two at a local church venue in 2018 .
Out of gratitude for this thriving studio and my wonderful students, it is our pleasure Can Play Piano to give back by helping those who need are less fortunate. Please click here to find out more.
